Before or during the act or trick, the performer acts surprised, stops and listens, and then realizes he is getting a phone call. He apologizes for the interruption, as he reaches behind his table, or into his case or jacket, and pulls out a phone cord. He comments, “It’s my phoneless cord!” Unfortunately there is no one there. It must have been a crank call. This is always a sure fire laugh getter! Talk about phoning it in! Let’s just hope they don’t call back in the middle of your next set!
